Helping children build skills, confidence and connections through play

At Community Therapy, our paediatric group programs give children the opportunity to learn, practise and develop important skills in a fun, supportive and engaging environment.

We know that children learn best when they are interested, engaged and having fun. That’s why our groups use activities that children naturally enjoy — from building and creating to moving, experimenting and playing with others — to create meaningful opportunities for learning and development.

Our groups are designed and delivered by experienced paediatric allied health professionals, with activities that support children to work towards meaningful goals while enjoying time with other children. Being part of a group also gives children the opportunity to learn from their peers, practise skills in a social environment and build confidence through shared experiences.

From developing fine and gross motor skills to building communication, social skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving and independence, our programs create opportunities for children to practise skills in ways that feel natural and enjoyable.

Most importantly, we want children to have fun, feel included and experience success. Because when children are engaged in something they enjoy, learning can happen along the way.

After School Programs

Build skills, have fun and connect with others during the school term.

Our After School Programs run for the duration of a school term, giving children regular opportunities to participate, practise skills and build confidence alongside their peers.

Programs focus on areas such as communication, social participation, fine and gross motor skills, emotional regulation, executive functioning and confidence — all while having fun with other children.

School Holiday Programs

Keep learning, playing and connecting during the school holidays.

Our School Holiday Programs give children the chance to try something new, develop skills and enjoy a fun activity during the school break.

Programs are generally offered as one-off sessions, making them a great way for children to experience a group without committing to a full term.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are paediatric group programs?

Paediatric group programs are structured activities designed to help children develop skills while participating alongside other children. Depending on the program, activities may support communication, social participation, fine and gross motor skills, emotional regulation, executive functioning, confidence and independence.

  • Who can participate in Community Therapy's paediatric groups?

Each group has its own age range, program goals and requirements. Some programs are designed for specific age groups, while others may focus on particular skills or stages of development. Check the individual program listing for eligibility and availability, or reach out to our team.

  • What is the difference between a group program and 1:1 therapy?

1:1 therapy provides individualised support tailored specifically to your child’s needs and goals, with the therapist able to focus closely on their progress and provide targeted strategies.

Group programs provide opportunities for children to practise and develop skills alongside their peers in a fun, social environment. They can support skills such as communication, social participation, confidence, teamwork, problem-solving and independence.

Depending on your child’s needs, group programs and 1:1 therapy can complement each other. Our team can help you determine which option, or combination of options, may be most appropriate for your child.

  • Can my child attend a group if they don't receive individual therapy from Community Therapy?

Yes. Depending on the individual program, children may be able to join a group without accessing individual therapy with Community Therapy. Check the specific program details or contact our team to discuss your child’s needs.

  • Can NDIS funding be used for paediatric group programs?

Some Community Therapy paediatric group programs may be suitable for NDIS funding, depending on the program, your child’s plan and their individual circumstances. Please check the individual program listing or contact our team if you’re unsure.

  • How do I enrol my child in a paediatric group?

You can view our current programs above and select the group you’re interested in to find out more and register your interest or enrol. If you’re unsure which program is right for your child, contact our team and we’d be happy to help.
