About This Course
The NDIS is an ever-evolving funding scheme, supporting hundreds of thousands of Australians living with a disability to access individualised services and supports. At first glance, the NDIS can be a little overwhelming when commencing work in this space; so we wanted to develop this course to help calm your nerves so you feel confident entering the NDIS space.
In this short course, we discuss some of the main processes, expectations and language used within the NDIS.
This on-demand training is approximately 50 minutes, divided into 10 on-demand modules, and covers:
- An overview of the NDIS and its purpose
- NDIS legislation, including the Reasonable & Necessary Criteria, the NDIS Act and Operational Guidelines
- Participant Eligibility Criteria, and the process of applying to the NDIS
- Key roles and language used within the NDIS
- How to read and interpret a Participant NDIS plan
- An overview of the NDIS price guide and service agreements.
- Required processes to become and maintain being a NDIS registered provider.
The license of this course also includes a downloadable resource list with key information as listed on the NDIS website, in addition to the reference list provided at the end of the course.
Outcomes for NDIS 101
- Develop an understanding of what the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is and its purpose.
- Develop an understanding of a NDIS Participant Plan and funding categories relevant to service providers in order to support client goals.
- Develop an understanding of the foundational structures of the NDIS including who is eligible for the scheme, applying for the NDIS, and what happens once individuals are on the scheme.

Our online NDIS 101 course is instructed by Rachael Hayes (B Occupational Therapy, Honours), AHPRA Registered Occupational Therapist.
Rachael is an Occupational Therapist entering her 5th year of clinical practice, working within the paediatric, aged care and disability sectors, to support individuals to increase their independence and engagement in activities that are important to them.
Rachael has worked across both the aged care and disability funding bodies, providing assessment and recommendations for required supports, equipment, assistive technology, skill development and home modifications.
Rachael thrives in collaborating with clients and their key supports to achieve client / family centred practice, to assist in the achievement of their individualised goals and enhance their quality of life. Rachael is passionate about empowering other allied health clinicians to feel confident in their service provision and skillset, to improve client outcomes and experiences within the health sector.
