Nutrition plays a vital role in overall health, and our Dietetic services are designed to help clients make informed choices about their diet to support health and well-being.

At Community Therapy, we believe Dietitians are for everyone. Along with offering evidence-based nutritional guidance for healthy eating, Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) play a key role in managing various conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, food allergies, intolerances, disordered eating, and challenges related to overweight and obesity.

Our Dietitians primarily support NDIS participants and aged care clients, delivering high-quality, personalised services.

Our Occupational Therapy services focus on helping individuals perform everyday tasks, promoting independence and improving quality of life. Our Occupational Therapists provide neuro affirming support by:

  • Functional capacity assessments – reviewing the entirety of a person’s circumstances (from daily living, community access) and so on, to make recommendations
  • Equipment prescription and trial – Advising on assistive technology such as scooters, wheelchairs through to kitchen items. Anything that makes home living safer and more enjoyable!
  • NDIS assessments – reviewing a person’s NDIS plan and supports – ensuring they have an appropriate plan to meet their meaningful goals.

Our Occupational Therapists are kind and caring, and we are proud to be welcomed into your home environment.

A New Lambton Success Story!

Our Dietetics and Physiotherapy teams recently supported a lovely 91-year-old woman living in New Lambton

For us, this case is a great example of how empowering the client can lead to positive results.

Our wonderful client wanted to increase her strength and cardiovascular health so that she could do her normal daily tasks independently and also access the community. Prior to engaging Community Therapy, she was less active in the community and expressed the desire to visit her church more often.

Her care coordinator was concerned about her frailty, so Community Therapy was asked to address potential malnutrition while also developing her strength and mobility. An eight-week restorative care program was introduced to support her and improve her health from a holistic standpoint.

Our Dietitian worked with her to create a plan for healthy weight gain. Our Physiotherapist devised a strategy to improve her physical function.

For both these services, time was spent developing plans that would be easy and enjoyable for the client to continue by herself, after the eight-week care plan.

This client loved her exercise program and immediately started making fantastic progress. She put on several kilos of weight over the eight-week program, and saw great improvements in her physical capacity.

It was a great pleasure to help her through this stage, and to see her delight at being strong enough to attend her church group again!
