Live Better for Longer with our Seniors Program
We help older adults thrive for longer at home with innovative and engaging group exercise and health education programs.
Our programs are led by expert allied health professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists and Allied Health Assistants.
The research tells us that:
- Approximately 50% of all falls can be prevented
- Regular exercise reduces the risk of cancer, heart disease and decreases pain related to osteoarthritis
- Social connections enhance health outcomes and reduce loneliness
- Regular exercise improves the management of diabetes and osteoporosis
Our programs are available face-to-face across the Hunter New England and Central Coast Local Health Districts of NSW and available online through partnerships with seniors lifestyle, retirement village and aged care providers.
Health Coaching & Education
Our programs provide participants with personalised health coaching through on-demand access to an allied health professional.
Our experienced health coaches are allied health professionals and provide older adults with personalised support and guidance to help set realistic health and wellness goals, overcome healthcare challenges, and stay motivated on their journey towards better health.
We also provide education sessions as part of our face-to-face and online programs on topics such as:
- The keys to increasing health span, not just life span
- Healthy eating and nutrition advice to live longer
- Engaging exercises to prevent falls and keep your independence
- Building your brain fitness with mental wellbeing strategies
- Combatting loneliness by connecting with others
Benefits of our Seniors Wellbeing Group Programs
Move More, Live Better
As your total sitting time increases, so does your risk of an early death. Studies suggest the sweet spot for longevity lies around 7,000 to 8,000 daily steps or about 30 to 45 minutes of exercise most days.
Build Mental Health, Resilience & Wellbeing
Regular mindfulness training has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, depression and increase cognitive longevity.
(The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Therapy on Anxiety and Depression: A Meta-Analytic Review
Stefan G. Hofmann, Alice T. Sawyer, Ashley A. Witt, and Diana Oh)
Find your Tribe: Connect & Combat Loneliness
An 80-year-long study, which began in 1938, found that the strongest predictor of a happy and healthy life was the quality of one’s social relationships. The study found that people who were more socially connected were happier, healthier, and lived longer than those who were less connected.
(Harvard Study of Adult Development)
Nourish your Body to Live Better
“Changing from a typical diet to an optimised diet (rich in legumes, whole grains and whole foods) at age 60 increases life expectancy by 8.8 years for women, 8 years for men.”
Prof Fadnes, University of Bergen, Norway.
Better Balance to Prevent Falls
Regular strength and balance exercises have been shown to decrease falls for older adults by approximately 50%!
(Li F, Harmer P, Fitzgerald AL, et al. Exercise-based interventions for preventing falls in older adults J Am Med Dir Assoc. 2017)
Reduce Pain & Increase Mobility
Exercise isn’t just good for your heart – it can also help manage pain and boost mobility, as shown by studies like Sluka et al., 2016 and Santos et al., 2023.
